Joe Lovano will release a second album by his new Trio Tapestry on ECM records. Listen to a first track.
Saxophonist Joe Lovano’s new album Garden of Expressions will be released on January 29, 2021. It features his new Trio Tapestry with pianist Marilyn Crispell and drummer Carmen Castaldi. Their first album Trio Tapestry was released in 2019 and they toured internationally playing the new original compositions by Lovano which has a searching sometimes meditative quality.
“We’ve been developing a way of playing together and exploring music with a deep sense of communication, space, and dialogue in its creation. Within the Garden of Expression we touch on the peaceful nature of humankind with sounds and feelings of love,” says Joe Lovano.
Marilyn Crispell was influenced by Cecil Taylor and has led her own bands and played with saxophonist Anthony Braxton since the early 1980s. Carmen Castaldi is an old collaborator of Lovano. He recorded on Lovano´s Blue Note album Viva Caruso which was released in 2002.
